While you can hand a girl some stats on why she should consider pursuing a career in STEM, it’s far more inspiring to let her hear from real women who are already doing the work. As the old adage goes: You can’t become what you can’t see.

This month at Microsoft Stores across the country, girls ages 11 – 18 can meet astronauts, pilots and computer science leaders—all women—who’ll be talking about how STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) was critical in their journeys. The free “DigiGirlz” events are in celebration of International Women’s Day, and will take place on select Saturdays in March. Each will include a coding workshop.

Check the event calendar of your local Microsoft store for details. You can choose a program that focuses on coding, space or aviation. There will interactive discussions and Q&As, where the kids and teens can ask what it’s like to fly a military jet or work for NASA or make a cool dragon-fighting video game. And maybe even see themselves following a similar path.
